Enhance your sports skills, excel in school, and improve vision

vision-theraphy

Let’s face it. Our eyes are at the center of everything that we do. From the moment we wake up in the morning, we use them to move in our space and complete daily tasks. In some cases, even though the eyes see 20/20, their function can be limited due to less accurate eye movements or eye teaming skills. Whether you think your eyes may be functioning poorly or you are interested in a sport or activity that requires supreme visual function, vision therapy may be for you.

Studies are showing vision therapy’s capacity to improve reading speed and comprehension. In addition, some of the most prestigious sport camps and training programs in the world are incorporating vision therapy into their routine to improve their athlete’s progression. Vision therapy for diagnosed ocular conditions has also been shown to improve acuity, depth perception, and eye alignment.

Vision therapy is a sequence of neurosensory and neuromuscular activities individually prescribed and monitored by the doctor to develop, rehabilitate and enhance visual skills and processing. The vision therapy program is based on the results of a comprehensive eye examination and takes into consideration the results of standardized tests, the needs of the patients, and the patient’s signs and symptoms. The length of the therapy program varies depending on the severity of a diagnosed condition or the preciseness required for a particular sport or activity. Activities paralleling in-office techniques are taught to the patient to be practiced at home.

Makar Eyecare performs vision therapy and the evaluations necessary to track ocular improvements. If you or someone you know is interested, schedule an appointment with Dr. Elizabeth Lane.

Contact Lenses

There are a number of reasons why you might prefer contacts lenses to standard eyewear, they allow a glasses-free look with hassle free vision correction. We offer several types of contact lenses for our patients.

Soft Lenses

Soft contacts are the most popular contact lens which conform to the shape of your eye. They are comfortable to wear and must be replaced monthly, bi-weekly or daily.

Toric lenses

Toric contact lenses correct for astigmatism issues that arise from a different curvature of the cornea or lens in your eye.

Gas Permeable (RGP) Lenses

These lenses are made of moderately flexible plastics. Gas permeable lenses offer sharp vision and correct most vision problems. They are more durable than most soft contact lenses. Hard contact lenses may appeal to you if you’ve tried soft lenses and have been unsatisfied with the results. They are often more breathable than soft contact lenses, which reduces the amount of eye infections.

Multi-Focal Lenses

Multi focal lenses are designed to offer patients both distance and near vision correction just like a pair of bifocal glasses. The difference is that the vision correction is contained within your eye instead of worn on your face.

Here at Makar Eyecare we strive to customize our contact lens fittings to each individual. Just as one shoe size doesn’t fit all, one contact lens size doesn’t fit all.

Optical

At Makar Eyecare we take pride in the materials and services we provide. You will work with some of the most highly skilled and experienced certified opticians in the state of Alaska. We create your custom eyewear using the best in modern robotic and digital technology.

We believe your eyewear should be comfortable, durable, and make you look great! Your choice of eyewear is important, you will use them every day. We know this and stand behind our products.

Should you really like what you see and need more than one pair at the same time, you will receive a discount on your second pair.
